Mail v1.2.x - Jaguar - Account Setup


If you're having difficulty setting up Mail version 1.2.x for use with your MacServe.net email account, follow these instructions.

Select Preferences... from the Mail menu:

This will open the following window:

Click on the Add Account button. This will open a new account window:

Fill in the following information:

Account Type POP
Description A name you choose for this mailbox
Email Address Your email address is username@yourdomain.com
Full Name Your real name goes here
Incoming Mail Server Your POP3 server is mail.yourdomain.com
User Name Your POP3 Account ID is username@yourdomain.com
Password Your password is personally given to you

Your Outgoing Mail Server probably is not yet configured so click the pull-down button and select Add Server... or click the Options... button.

The following window will pop up:

Fill in the following information:

Outgoing Mail Server mail.yourdomain.com
Server port 587
Authentication MD5 Challenge-Response
User Name Use the same user name from above.
Password Use the same password from above.

Click OK to close this window.

Now click the Advanced tab:

Click the Remove copy from server after retrieving a message check box and make sure that Enable this account is checked.

Click OK and close the Mail Preferences window.

You can now send and receive email with your MacServe.net account.
